EUGENE, Ore. -- The second annual Eugene Running Of The Bulls took place in Alton Baker Park this morning. With their skates laced and horns strapped to their helmets, the Emerald City Roller Girls were ready to chase runners through the 4-mile course.
For those runners that were lagging too far behind, the "bulls" would give a friendly pat on the behind with a whiffle ball bat.
Event coordinator Piper Ruiz said it gives runners a chance to feel like they are being chased by a stampede of bulls.
"It's a ton of fun. It's fun for the bulls because they make their horns and costumes, and we saw tutus and fur around horns," said Ruiz.
Fees from the fun run help the Emerald City Roller Girls pay for track time, travel expenses, and uniforms.
