The suspect, Amanda Gatewood, 44, of Springfield, was taken to a Corvallis hospital and is listed in critical condition.
According to the sheriff, Springfield Police were pursuing Gatewood in a stolen 2000 Suzuki Vitara north on Interstate 5. State Police and Linn County deputies tried to stop Gatewood by laying down spike strips and using pursuit intervention techniques.
Officials said Gatewood took the Highway 34 exit and stopped at the entrance to the Chevron Gas Station on the west side of I-5.
She got out of the vehicle and started running toward the convenience store. Officers shot Gatewood when she pointed what appeared to be a handgun at officers, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators recovered a replica of a 1911 semi-automatic handgun at the scene.
A Springfield Police officer involved in the shooting was put on administrative leave.
A multi-agency team, led by the Albany Police Department, is investigating the shooting.
