Donations pour in for family of 11 displaced by fire

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. - A fire destroyed everything a family of 11 owned on Monday.

From toothbrushes to shoes, they have no furniture or clothing. The basic necessities of going about life have been destroyed for them.

The famly - two parents and nine children ranging in age from infant to high school ages - were left with literally nothing.

Just a few hours after the flames went out, the donations started coming in.

South Lane Fire said they've received calls offering the everything from couches and beds.

"They know we're doing it. They're getting help from the red cross and they're working with them and setting up housing with them for the next few nights," said Joe Raade, division chief at South Lane Fire and Rescue.

For now, the family is staying with relatives in Oakridge and the children are commuting an hour to and from school.
