While I applaud the efforts of the Springfield Police Department, the story fails to mention that most of those arrested will, due to an underfunded County Jail, be released within days even hours of being arrested.

This REally makes me mad! People are so shortsighted and need to pay attention to what is important in the long run. Just WHY should the farmers stop burning?Weigh the options.A few people can ignore how to protect themselves...stay indoors! Duh! Against poisoning all of our water supply, the fields, killing beneficial insects and raising the price of products. A no brainer! S.Wilkins. Cottage Grove.
